The first UK case of the Ortholox Locking Periprosthetic Support Plate System has been performed.
Professor Mehool "Mez" Acharya, from North Bristol NHS Trust, applied the Trochanter Femur Cable-Plate with Hook, one of the components of the Ortholox Locking Periprosthetic Support Plate System, to a patient with a Vancouver Type B1 periprosthetic fracture. Low Profile Ortholox UHMWPE Orthopaedic Cerclage Bands were first used to reduce the fracture in the patient with sufficient bone stock and stable hip prosthesis. After the fracture fragments were brought together, a 9-hole Trochanter Hook Plate was applied and the operation was completed.
